The Challenge

Two months to drive donations and in-person turnout for the Hudson Valley Making Strides Against Breast Cancer walk, using Facebook and Instagram.

Making Strides Against Breast Cancer is the American Cancer Society's premier event to raise awareness and funds in the fight against breast cancer. The Hudson Valley walk needed to turn attention into donations and turnout in a short window.

The Approach

How the work unfolded.

  1. Understand what moves donors

Researched the American Cancer Society's audience and what motivates people to give and to show up.

  2. Show the impact

Built content that connected each donation to what it makes possible, so supporters could see their part in the result.

  3. Make it personal

Celebrated fundraising teams with shout-outs and rewards, and featured local survivors as the faces of the campaign.

The Outcome

What changed.

  • Facebook was a key part of combined fundraising efforts that raised over $450,000, among the top three walks in New York.
  • Organic reach up 519%, and page likes up 15%.
  • Post impressions ranging up to 135,000.
  • Renewed for the following year.
